Kerala is always the holiday destination for inbound & outbound travellers. Now “Kerala extending Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA) with Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to 43 countries” to attract foreign visitors. This service was started effective November 27th 2014 at Thiruvananthapuram & Kochi Airports. Kerala is trying hard to get the approval for Kozhikode airport as well. Foreign visitors now apply visa and pay visa fee online by sitting at home instead coming to Indian missions physically. The visa applicants whose visas are approved will receive a email with the visa copy. Travellers need to provide the copy of visa at the Indian immigration when they visit India.
Kerala government started in 2 phases, where in phase I 43 countries are allowed to use this offer, these are Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cook Islands, Djibouti, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kingdom of Tongo, Laos, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Mexico, Myanmar, New Zealand, Niue, Norway, Oman, Palestine, Papua and New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Kiribati, Republic of Korea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Republic of Nauru, Republic of Palau, Russia, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Tuvalu, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, the US, Vietnam and Vanuatu. And in phase II for 12 countries which will be rolled out soon.

Tourisim Minister AP Anil Kumar quoted that they are taking each and every step to ensure potential visitors know about this service. In addition to this he mentioned that they already taken necessary action like road shows in key markets like Germany, Australia, Japan, Russia, USA & UAE where they are expecting good number of visitors.
And at JATA Tourism Expo 2014 also done road shows in Australia, New Zealand, Finland & Russia and mentioned that they will cross the number of 30 lakh tourist arrivals in 2021. Kerala government pitching each and every avenue to promote this service worldwide.
